The local orienteering and skiing club Gorm Jelling is ready to welcome you in the starting area by Gormshallen.
You head south on the first kilometers of the day, because we really want to show you Faarup Lake and the viking ship Jelling Orm.
You also pass the festival square of the famous Jelling Music Festival.
From Faarup the route runs through Jelling Forest, which offers single track up and down hills as you feel the sense of history with burial mounds and rune stones.
From Faarup Lake the route passes through the woods of Jelling, where a varied ride up and down small hills await.
The Kings' Jelling is passed, where you will hopefully feel the breath of history between burial mounds and runestones.
The Kings' Jelling with the Jelling monuments, the stones and the burial mounds is the place, where the christian Denmark allegedly arose.
Slow down, look up and feel the breath of history right here.
You follow Hærvejen along field and fence to the depot and a well-deserved break in Kollemorten.
Here the local sports association Baltic Nykirke IF offers home baking. And now you are ready for the next kilometers in Tinnet thicket.
Gudenåens and Skjernåens sources originate here, and the route runs along small paths and trails through the oak forest and heath.
Nr. Snede featuring hot soups and other refreshments.
Here, time stands still for a little while, while local associations serves.
Out of town on a full stomach waiting meadows and green forests where you almost feel contemporary rumbling carriages in the uneven ruts.
Nørre Snede has been a rallying point for Hærvejens travelers - and on race day is the gathering place for both MTB and road bike riders.
Just south of Nr. Snede is Gudenåens and Skjernåens sources - the origins of Denmark's two largest rivers.
The veteran train rides here, but participating in DGI Hærvejsløbet you continue in the woods on single track and onwards to Vrads Sande along the heather-covered rolling hills.
The local club Bryrup IF delivers the good service in this depot, before you are sent off through Gludsted Plantation.
While riding through Gludsted Plantation, the Isenbjerg hill rises. It might only be 30 meters high, but it is noticable in this flat landscape.
It's mostly gravel here, but you will also experience a few kilometers on a blue trail.
Next stop is in Engesvang, where the hall is open to both rider and bike.
Here Engesvang Boldklub serves the food, the bike can get a rinse, and maybe there needs little care of both body and mechanics?
On your bike again waiting plantation after plantation with long and sometimes just dirt roads that allows you to go fast.
Here it is also possible to get sugar depots filled, which is recommended, although there does not seem far to finish.
Beautiful view over the Hald lake, so lift your view and think that Viborg are just around the corner.
The landscape is dramatic - created by Arctic ice and meltwater during the last ice age.
You did it!
Parade Square is the setting and the whole Viborg celebrates.
So if there is any strength left, take a bath, hang on and party like a rider
